General Information
History in brief
Brunschwig Chemie was founded in Amsterdam Holland on January 6th 1935 by Roger Brunschwig a Swiss businessman, after having received a request to supply bacto agar from Difco U.S.A. Now more than 70 years later Brunschwig and Difco(BD) are still business partners. The same goes for the U.K. based company for laboratory chemicals, British Drug House which has been represented by Brunschwig since the nineteen thirties.
Brunschwig started off in a 17th century Merchant’s house at the Keizersgracht(Keizers canal) in the city of Amsterdam which was used as an office and storage facility at the same time. In 1970 Henri V. Brunschwig succeeded his father as president and owner of the company. In the year 1976 the complete company relocated to the port district because of ever growing business reaching the limits of capacity. Since 1997 the company has moved in the same area to new premises including office building and state of the art warehouses especially designed for storage and distribution of dangerous and hazardous goods.(including custom facilities). In the year 2004 the company was taken over by Van Santen Invest B.V. an investment company active in the field of chemicals, food additives (ingredients), cosmetics and biotechnology.
